Herring Meets Accidental Death in Texas; Burial Here The entire community was saddened when the news of the sudden death of Haurrie G. Herring was transmitted to his family in Jena last Friday morning. The accident happened in Galveston, Texas, where Mr. Herring was employed by one of the dredging companies. According to reports, Mr. Herring was at work on the dredging barge when in some unaccountable manner he came in contact with a live wire, resulting in instant death. It seems that Mr. Herring was alone when the accident occurred and the exact details of just how it happened will never be known. His body was found by some fellow-worker a few minutes later. Mr. Herring was born in Sikes, Winn Parish, 22 years, 2 months, and 23 days ago. He came to Jena about 19 years ago where he resided until he reached his majority, since that time he has held various positions throughout the country. In 1936, he was united in marriage to Miss Ana Joy Allen, who with a small daughter, Glenda, survive. Other survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert G. Herring, Jena; three sisters and two brothers as follows: Mrs. J. A. Mayes, Beaumont, Texas; Mrs. Ansley O. Willis, Jena; Miss Marie Herring, Jena; also two nephews and one niece. (NOTE: Sentence listing brothers is missing from the newspaper article.) Mr. Herring was a member of the Baptist Church of Jena. The funeral services was held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock by Rev.
