Hudspeth, 83, of Jena, died at 5:30 a.m., Thursday, November 1, 2001, at St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria. He was a retired driller in the oil field, a member of Shady Grove Pentecostal Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He was born Aug. 8, 1918, at Jena to the union of Jim Abel and Mattie Grace Bradford Hudspeth. Services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 2, at the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jean with the Revs. Ben Deville and Dan Davis officiating. Interment followed in the Hailey Cemetery of Nebo under direction of Kinner and Stevens, Inc. of Jena. Survivors include three daughters, Christine Neal and Doris Bordelon, both of Jena and Joan Hudspeth of Alexandria; two sons, John R. Hudspeth of Alexandria and Earnest Hudspeth of Jena; one sister, Edith Bailey of Jena; one brother, James W. Hudspeth of Jena; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Paul Bordelon, Brad Phillips, Cody Smith, Garland Bailey, Dave Allen, Allen Hudspeth, and Landon Fulbright.
