Mrs. Hamilton, who was the mother of Dr. Fred Hamilton, coroner of LaSalle Parish, was a native of Virginia. In 1865, she was married to Dr. John Alexander Hamilton, to which union seven children were born. She moved from Virginia in 1868 to Louisiana, the family making their home in Grant and Rapides parishes. Deceased is survived by two daughters, Mrs. S. L. Conerly and Miss Mamie Hamilton, both of Alexandria, and three sons, Mr. Hugh Hamilton, Alexandria; Dr. Fred Hamilton, of Jena, La.; and Mr. Roy D. Hamilton, of Douglas, Arizona; nineteen grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. L. M. Groves, of Beaumont, Texas, and one brothers, Mr. Stewart Johnson of Slagle, La. One daughter, Mrs. L. J. Rhinehart, and one son, Frank Hamilton, are deceased.
