Hopkins are Held at her Home Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen Blake Hopkins, 82, who died in a Monroe hospital in Monroe at 3;30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, were held in her home in Olla at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov 23. Officiating ministers were the Rev. T. T. Edwards of the Pinehill Baptist Church, the Rev. J. A. Jones, pastor of the Olla Methodist Church, and the Rev. V. T. Bradford, pastor of the Chickasaw Free Methodist Church. Interment was in the Blake Cemetery under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home of Columbia. Serving as pallbearers were her nephews, W. D. Holloway, Roy Blake, Bryant Strozier, O. A. Wilson, Owen Hopkins and Robert McCartney. Survivors are two daughters, Miss Myrth Hopkins and Miss Joyce Hopkins; two sons, R. H. Hopkins of Tucson, Ariz., and J. D. Hopkins of El Paso, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. E. L. Harveston of Grayson and Mrs. R. E. Adams of DeRidder; one brother, Floyd Blake of Olla, 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hopkins was a member of a prominent family of LaSalle. In 1893, she was married to W. H. Hopkins who passed away in 1946. She was a member of the Chickasaw Free Methodist church, and until the last few years when she was inactive because of ill health, she gave her very best to her family, her church, and community. Out-of-town friends and relatives attending the funeral of Mrs. Hopkins were Mrs. H. H. Haynes and daughter of DeRidder, Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Mott of North Little Rock, Ark.; Mrs. Willie Shuman and Miss Katherine Shuman, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Keith, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis LaHood and children, Mrs. Thomas N. Antoon, Mrs. George LaHood, Mrs. J. L. Gray, Mrs. George Saybe and Mrs. Joe Mitchell, all of Alexandria; Mrs. Guy Hopkins and sons, H. G. and Edward Roy, of New Orleans; Mrs. Doyle Flowers and daughter Nancy of Vivian, R. H. Hopkins of Tucson, Ariz., J. D. Hopkins of El Paso, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Harveston of Grayson and Mrs. R. E. Adams of DeRidder.
