His body was discovered by a young white boy, whose identify could not be ascertained at this time, but who immediately summoned Deputy Sherif W. D. Blake, who arrived shortly on the scene. It is understood the murder was brought about by two shots from a heavy caliber pistol being fired into his body from both the front and rear. From the position of the body it is surmised Jackson's assailant fired first on confronting his victim, and as he turned to flee, fired again. The first shot penetrated the left breast, and the second entered the left side of the body lower down. One suspect is being held in the parish jail. He is Alvin Fairman, who resides in the neighborhood in which the crime was committed. Fairman had made no statement this week, and no charges had been brought against him, other than suspicion. The sheriff's office is working diligently on the case and it is felt the case will be cleared up in a very short while.
