All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Date: August 21, 1941 Headline: Negro Found Dead; Was Ex-Convict A Negro, identified as Antley James, was found at noon Wed. by Ed Allen about 3-4 of a mile East of Tom Wilson's home north of Jena. Sheriff D. Floyd and Dr. J. A. Gaharan, Coroner, were notified and upon investigation found him to be an ex-convict on parole under the care of T. J. Drewett, who identified the body by the clothing. He was about 50 years old, and was 5 feet, 9 inches high. The Negro had been missing since Wednesday, August 13, and had been dead since that time. The coroner jury's verdict was that he met his death by a severe blow above the left temple with a heavy, blunt instrument. He had a long cut on the back of his head.
