J. Kendrick of Jena, were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Nolley Memorial Methodist Church of Jena. The Rev. W. O. Lynch, Pastor of Nolley; the Rev. O. W. Spinks of Alexandria, and a Former Pastor of Nolley, and the Rev. J. P. Owens, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Jena, conducted the final rites. Interment followed in the Nolley Church Cemetery under the direction of Kinner and Stevens Home for Funerals of Jena. The popular young man, who assisted his father and brother in the operation of Kendrick and Son Self Service Food Store in Jena, was found dead early Tuesday morning near his home. A coroner's investigation, conducted by Dr. D. L. Trax, LaSalle Parish Coroner, resulted in a verdict of death due to a heart attack. Young Mr. Kendrick was known to have a had a heart condition of long standing and, "my investigation and information clearly indicates there is no doubt that death was the result of a cardiac attack," Dr. Trax reported. In addition to his parents, Mr. Kendrick is survived by his brother, R. D. (Bobby) Kendrick of Jena, and two sisters, Mrs. Bettie Jane Torrey of Ferriday and Mrs. Mary Nicholson of Jena, a number of other relatives and a host of friends. A member of a long-established and prominent family in this area, he was a native and lifelong resident of Jena.
