All loving care could do was bestowed upon her, but God saw fit to remove this beautiful spirit from the cares and troubles of earth to the infinite glories of the world beyond on April 21, 1936, at 8:10 p.m. She was a dutiful and loving mother and all who knew her admired her sweet, gentle and loving disposition and the strength of her character. Now that our best friend "mother" is gone, our home will never be the same again. No words can tell how we miss her. She was like a ray of sunshine that brightened our home and made it so happy. Now that that ray of sunshine is gone it is oh so dark and lonely. No more will her voice call us, no more will our hearts be gladdened by her sweet smile and cheerful songs. Little did we think as we stood by her bedside that day that would be the last time we would see those dear gray eyes. There's a vacant chair around the fireside and as we gather there every night after a thousand haunting memories of that day; there is no sweet mother to speak a happy word. It is so hard, but God knows best and we have the consolation that if we imitate the example of devout life, set by her, we will meet her in the Great Beyond, where there shall be no tears of sorrow and parting. Mother was 54 years, 4 months, and ten days of age, was born in Caldwell Parish December 11, 1882, and a member of the Protestant Methodist Church at Shilo. Two daughters, Mrs. O. L. Scarborough of Galveston, Texas, Mrs. D. G. Mann of Utility and a son, C. L. Lively of Utility with a host of relatives and friends are left to mourn her death. Her presence is sorely missed in the community, but most of all at home. Our loss is her gain. While we here mourn her spirit is singing sweet peace with the Heavenly angels. Mother was laid to rest at Taylor's Chapel Cemetery, nine miles northwest of Jena on Wednesday, April 22, at 4 p.m. Rev. Doughty conducted the funeral services. Mother no more to us can come back, but we unto her can follow her tracks to the Mansion above, to the happy reunion where we shall join her in sweetest communion. Her Children
