The Negro, reported between 70 and 80 years of age, was believed to have died sometime late Sunday or early Monday morning. He last was reported seen Sunday. When word of his death was brought to the sheriff's office by a Negro man identified as Morris Grey, the parish coroner was summoned and he returned a verdict of death due to natural causes, believed to have been a heart attack. It was reported that the body was in good shape, with no odors noticeable, despite the estimated length of time the man had been dead. The sheriff's department was able to locate and contact a daughter, Sybil Andrews, who lives at Marion in North Louisiana and she was summoned to Jena. Following the coroner's investigation, the body was released to a Jonesville Negro funeral home. Information concerning funeral arrangements was not available.
