West to Jena. It is alleged that West has confessed that he murdered Will Lantrip in the Tullos oil fields in February of last year and has been at liberty since that time. Stewart Bridges was arrested after the killing of Lantrip but has not been brought to trial, since the officers claim they could secure little evidence upon which to convict. Bridges has stoutly denied any connection with the slaying, saying that he, too, was held up by the two men who killed Lantrip. The local sheriff's office stated that a man by the name of Shanahan is wanted in connection with West. They believe that he can be secured since West has been apprehended and that if he cannot be connected with the crime he will be held as a material witness. West was arrested in Oklahoma City the first of this week in connection with the killing of a woman. A message was received by the Jena Times Tuesday from the Oklahoma City Herald asking for further information regarding the Lantrip killing and stating that West had confessed. The killing is alleged to have arisen over a dispute concerning a small amount of money. District Attorney Fuller has been forwarded the confession from the Oklahoma City officers and upon his recommendation the local sheriff will be asked to go Oklahoma for the man.
