It will be remembered that Will Lantrip and Stewart Bridges were together on the night of the killing. Bridges was indicted by the grand jury upon the evidence submitted by Tawes, who swore that he saw Bridges kill Lantrip. About three months ago, Roxie West was arrested in Oklahoma City for the alleged commission of another crime at which time he confessed to being implicated in the killing of Lantrip at Tullos and claimed that Joe Tawe, instead of being a witness to the killing, was a participator in the act. West exonerated Bridges from any connection with the slaying. West has been confined to the parish jail in Jena for sometime local officers having gone to Oklahoma City to return him to LaSalle Parish. Wednesday, after he had faced the man believed to be Tawe, West refused to talk, disregarding that while in Oklahoma City he had implicated both Tawe and himself by his confession. Sheriff Davis and his deputies are making an effort to secure further evidence in the case before it is set for trial next month.
