From The Jena Times - Olla Tullos Signal DATE: Wednesday, January 2, 2002 Page: 3B Headline: Area Deaths Mary Roberts Love Mary Roberts Love, 93, of Lafayette and a native of Jena, died at 2 p.m., Monday, December 24, 2001, in Lafayette. She was the daughter of the late John Wallace and Mary Vera Powers Roberts of Jena. A graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a B.A. in Education, she worked for many years in the Lafayette Parish school System until her retirement. She was an active member of the Davidson Memorial Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was the first woman to serve on the Administration Board. Mary was a member of the WSCS (now UMW), served on the pastoral care team at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center and did volunteer work at Lafayette Charity Hospital. Services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, dec. 26, in the chapel of Delhomme Funeral Home in lafayette with the Revs. Spiller Milton, Ann Sutton, and Lina Hart officiating. Interment was at the Olla Cemetery at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27. Survivors include her husband, James Lee Love of Lafayette; one daughter, Norma Hart of Natchitoches; one son, John L. Love of Lafayette; one sister, Lorena Ezell of Ruston; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Charles Hart, David Hart, Geoff Hart, John Bourgeois, Francis Bourgeois, and Bob Sides. Honorary pallbearers were John M. Love and Kenneth Hart. Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Lafayette of the Methodist Children's Home in Ruston.
