All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Date: July 30, 1936, Thursday Headline: Veteran Dies at his Home at Rhinehart Sub-Headline: One of the Last Survivors of Civil War was Buried on Last Monday The ranks of the survivors of the "Lost Cause" were made thinner in LaSalle Parish on Monday of this week when William A. Mosley died suddenly at the home of his son, Robert Mosley of Jonesville. Mr. Mosley, who was 92 years old, died from the effects of a heart attack. He had made his home near Rhinehart for many years and was beloved by all who knew him. He enlisted in the Confederate cause in the Civil War at an early age and served with honors, returning to his home in this section after the war where he became actively engaged in farming. The deceased was born in Scubal, Mississippi, on April 15, 1844, but came to this county while only a small boy. He was a devout member of the Presbyterian Church at Jonesville. His wife preceded him to the grave in 1920 and two his children were also called by death, leaving three sons and three daughters to survive him. They are: Robert of Jonesville; Willie of Alexandria; Tommie of Jonesville; Mrs. Minnie Belle Richardson and Miss Daisy Mosley of Rhinehart, and Mrs. Christine Webb of Manifest. Funeral services were held at the family home on Monday afternoon at 6 o'clock with interment following in the family cemetery near Rhinehart. Rev. B. A. Miley of Harrisonburg officiated and arrangements were under the direction of Kinner & Stevens, Jena undertakers.
