Funeral services were conducted Monday at 2 pm in the Georgetown Baptist Church, with the Rev. Marvin Armstrong, the Rev. J. D. Thompson, the Rev Oscar Bradford, and the Rev. A. L. Norsworthy officiating. Burial followed in Georgetown Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. Survivors include Mrs. Mathis' husband, W. M. Mathis of Good Pine; five step-daughters, Mrs. Talton Rowell of Jena, Mrs. A. M. Walker and Mrs. Thomas Avery of DeRidder, Mrs. John McDaniel of Tullos and Mrs. H. W. Jameson of Urania; three stepsons, Edward Mathis of Freeport, Texas; Bill Mathis and Joe Mathis of DeRidder; and two nieces, Mrs. Jewel Steely and Mrs. Sue Barnum, both of Urania. Pallbearers were Talton Rowell, Arthur Walker, Tommy Avery, Larry Bradford, Billy Mathis, and Johnny Jameson.
