Miles Levi A. Miles, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Miles, was born March 1, 1856, near Blade, La. His father came from Alabama to Caldwell Parish about 1845 and was married to Miss Caroline Valentine in 1850 and moved to the spot where the Blade post office now stands in 1852. Levi A. miles has five brothers and five sisters with two brothers, James W. and David T. still living; three sisters also survived: Mrs. Sarah Smith, Mrs. Doshia Richey of Rhinehart, and Mrs. Marthe Doughty of Tullos, La. He was married to miss Mary L. Britt December 25, 1878. To this union were born seven children, three sons and five daughters: J. A. and Jessie of Zenoria, Mrs. Mary Simmons and Mrs. Minnie McBroom of Zenoria, Mrs. Lucy Cornwell of Beaumont, Texas; one son and two daughters preceded him to the grave. He had 33 grandchildren, three dead, and three great-grandchildren. He professed faith in Christ and was baptized into the fellowship of Pine Grove Baptist Church about 1885, Rev. T. J. Pentecost baptizing him. Some twenty years later he moved into the Little Creek community and transferred his membership to Ebenezer Church. In 1919, he transferred his membership to Zenoria Church, of which he was in organization. He then was ordained a deacon to this church, where he held his membership until the time of his death. Fifty years spent in the services of his Lord and Master, ever living a consecrated life that the world could see that he had been with Jesus. He was honest and truthful in all of his dealings, endeavoring to live according to the Golden Rule. He died October 30, 1935, at the age of 79 years, eight months. His body was buried at Chalk Hill Cemetery near Little Creek, in the presence of a host of relatives and friends to await the resurrection of the redeemed when his Lord shall come with the host of Heaven for the redeemed and say, "Oh death, where is thy sting? O, grave, where is thy victory?" The funeral services were conducted by the writer and assisted by Rev. M. T. Doughty. He leaves behind other than two sons and three daughters to mourn his passing, a loving and consecrated wife, one who was ever willing and ready to share his troubles and assist in carrying his burdens, during those 57 years of companionship. May his good companion, children, grandchildren and other relatives and friends look through the veil of tears to the coming of his Lord, when all shall be gathered together where there will be no more parting hands, tears and heartaches shall soothe the pain and wipe away the tears. Sleep on dear uncle, and take thy rest, we loved you but God loved you best. His nephew and pastor, R. M. Doughty
