Deputy Alonzo Taylor, one of the LaSalle Parish sheriff's department officials who investigated the accident, report that it was probable that the driver went to sleep at the wheel of the loaded truck while traveling east of Highway 84. Doyle Windham, who drove the Jena fire truck to the scene to fight the fire, reported they reached the wreck "within 25 minutes of the accident" and succeeded in putting out the fire shortly after. The fire did not reach the truck cab and did not burn the body of the young man, Mr. Windham said. The body was removed from the truck shortly after 7 a.m. Local arrangements were made by Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena and the body later was picked up shortly after noon by a plane dispatched from Shreveport by Rose Neath Funeral Home which had charge of burial arrangements. The young man, who reportedly had been employed as a truck driver by the Drilling company for only a short period of time, is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam H. Moore of Shreveport, and two brothers, Henry Ray Moore of Shreveport and J. C. Moore of Dallas, Tex. Funeral services were held at Rose Neath Chapel, with interment following in Forest Park Cemetery in Shreveport.
