Murphy Col. Don Murphy, age 69, was laid to rest at the Hawthorne Cemetery in Little Creek Wednesday, March 19, at 3 p.m. Col. Murphy, a former resident of Little Creek, had resided in Bunkie for the past several years. Death came to 11:20 p.m. Monday in a Baton Rouge hospital where he has been a patient for some time. The deceased was married to the late Lizzie Sanders of Little Creek. He is survived by four half-brothers, Eb, Lawrence, Bill and Eldredge Oxidine, a half-sister, Eula Oxidine, a son, Ralph of Bunkie; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Masonic rites were held at the graveside. Pallbearers were Johnny and Jack Sanders, Elton, Ray and Kelsie Hudson and Willie Mills.
