Burton Meeks R. Burton Meeks, 74, of Olla, died at 9:10 p.m., Thursday, April 8, 1999, at Hardtner Medical Center in Urania. He was a retired supervisor for Louisiana-Pacific Corporation, a member of the Church of Christ and a veteran of the United States Navy. He was born March 13, 1925, in Mississippi to the union of Jake and Ada Meeks. Services were held at 10 a.m., Sunday, April 11, at the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home in Jena with Rev. Willie Beauboeuf officiating. Interment followed at the Magnolia Cemetery of Nebo under direction of Kinner and Stevens, Inc., of Jena. Survivors include his wife, Syble Mullins Meeks of Olla; one daughter, Rachel Meeks Wilson of Olla; one son, Bobby Kendrick Meeks of Olla; two sisters, Janey Parnell and Emma Holcomb, both of Mobile, Ala.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Tommy Callender, Charley Cahn, Lucas Lambert, Roy Cahn, Keith Street and Ray Box.
