McCartney, 44, of Trout, Route 1, who died Saturday evening at 8 o'clock, was buried Monday morning at 11 o'clock from the New Union Baptist church, with interment in the New Union cemetery under the direction of Hixson Brothers of Jena. Mr. McCartney, a woodcutter by trade, was a native and lifelong resident of LaSalle parish. Nephews of Mr. McCartney served as pallbearers at the final rites which were conducted by the Rev. Jessie Norris, assisted by the Rev. Fox Allen and M.T. Doughty. He is survived by his wife, Frances, and five sons, James, Herman, Gerald, Wayne, and Kenneth; four brothers, George McCartney of Tullos, Oscar McCartney of Trout, and Lacy and Leslie McCartney, both of Houston, Tex.; and three sisters, Mrs. Lottie Powell of Trout and Mrs. Jessie Nichols and Mrs. Alice Miles, both of Houston, Tex.
