He was a construction worker in the storage bank business and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was born Oct. 11, 1927, in Jonesville to the union of Thomas and Lottie Jones McCarty. Services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, July 30, in the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena with Rev. Johnnie Phillips officiating. Interment followed in Woodland Cemetery of Jena under direction of Kinner and Stevens, Inc., of Jena. Survivors include his wife, Ideria McCarty of Houston; four daughters, Debbie Sharp of Humble, Tx., Sandra McCarty of Clover Leaf, Tx., Brenda Arant of Monroe, and Karen Fontenot of Crosby, Tx.; one sister, Lottie Mae Smith of Jena; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
