All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Date: January 4, 1940, Thursday Headline: Funeral Services for John McClure Held Thursday, Dec. 28 Funeral services for John McClure, 18, of Jonesville, who died Tuesday, December 27, of burns received Monday, were held at 3:30 p.m. December 28 at Utility, near White Hall, with Rev. Cannon, of Utility officiating. Interment was made at the Hudnal Cemetery. Mr. McClure was fatally burned before flames could be extinguished when his woolen clothes became ignited as he stood in front of the large fire place at his home in Jonesville, Monday. He was immediately conveyed to the Pineville Hospital where he died at 5 p.m., the following day. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Crocket McClure; three sisters, Sybil, Merle and Lois; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Smith of Jonesville and Mr. and Mrs. Ed McClure of Utility. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home, Jena.
