E. McLendon Clarence Ernest McLendon, 54, died at his home in Good Pine at 4 a.m. Sunday, March 7 after a long illness. He was a retired boiler fireman. Funeral services were held in the Jena Free Methodist Church with the Rev. C. V. Bradford and the Rev. Earl Williams officiating. Burial was in the Squires Cemetery in Summerville under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife, Mattie; two daughters, Faye Manchester of Jena and Melva Lena Myers of Sondheimer; a son, C. L. McLendon of Jena; four brothers, Moses and Jimmy McLendon of Jena, Marion McLendon of Trout, and Curtis McLendon of Waterproof; a sister, Henrietta Knight of Dry Prong, two grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers were Hugo Ainsworth, Wade Andrews, Orland Sandifer, Lawrence Turner, Murth Wilson, all of Jena and Jack Lee of Summerville.
