McNeely Dies of Injuries Received While Working on Car Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 1, at 2 p.m., for William James "Dub" McNeely of Harrisonburg, who died Saturday when his automobile fell on him. McNeely, 31 year old rural mail carrier, was killed when the car on which he was working slipped off a jack and fractured his skull. The accident occurred about 1:45 p.m. at his home about five miles north of Jonesville on the Harrisonburg Road. He had been rural mail carrier for approximately eight years. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church of Jonesville with the Rev. James O. McNair, pastor, officiating and assisted by the Revs. Harold Davis and H. B. McClure. Burial was in the New Jena Cemetery, Jena, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home with full Masonic rites at the graveside, conducted by members of Four Rivers Masonic Lodge No. 369, Jonesville, of which he was a member and past worshipful master. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Jonesville. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Bonnie McNeely; his mother, Mrs. Maggie McNeely; two sisters, Mrs. Elvin Heider, Olla, and Mrs. A. H. Murray, Jr., Jonesville; and a brother, A. W. McNeely, Watertown, N. Y. A cousin, Mrs. Angie (McNeely) Walker of Jena is an employee of this newspaper.
