Oliphant buried May 15 at Harrisonburg Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, May 15, 1945, at the Baptist Church in Harrisonburg, for Mr. Samuel David Oliphant, who died May 13, at 3:50 o'clock at his home in Harrisonburg. Heart Attack was given as the cause of death.] Rev. L. K. Johnson of Harrisonburg conducted services. Interment was in Harrisonburg cemetery. Samuel Oliphant was born at Aimwell, Jan. 17, 1888 and was 57 years old at the time of death. A member of the Baptist Church at Harrisonburg, and of the Masonic Lodge at Jonesville, he had resided at Harrisonburg all his life. The deceased is survived by his wife, Essie Lanier Oliphant and two daughters, Katherine of Monroe and Mrs. Thelma Parks, Loch Lemond, La.
