She was a retired schoolteacher, having served the LaSalle Parish School System for 32 years. Services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 11, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with Rev. George Treutlein officiating. Interment followed in the Magnolia Cemetery near Tullos under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc., of Jena. Survivors include her husband, C. A. "Tony" Owens of Tullos; one daughter, Rita O. Ponds of Tullos; two sisters, Audrey Jones of Tullos and Jessie Marshall of Good Pine; and two grandchildren. Pallbearers were Tony Cannon, Lane Capps, Joey Medaris, Craig Allbritton, David Wilson, and Sean Bryan.
