L. D. Posey, pastor of the Jena Baptist Church officiating. Mr Phillips died in Beaumont, Texas, where he had been making his home with a daughter. The following clipping is taken from a Beaumont newspaper: Allen Phillips, 85, a resident of Beaumont for the last 15 years, died at 4:45 o'clock Thursday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs C. T. Sargent, 2741 Forrest Street, as the culmination of a long illness and a turn for the worse which occurred about a week ago. His body will sent by Missouri Pacific train to Jena, La, for interment, and the services will be held there at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon. Phillips is survivied by two sons. N. M. Phillips, of Webb, La, and C. L. Phillips, of Ferriday, La.; six daughters, Mrs J. D. Brown, Wisner, La., Mrs T. L. Dobbins, West Monroe, La; Mrs W. M. Merriweather, Winnsboro, La; and Mrs Erwin Stone, 663 Harrison; Mrs W. R. Ford, 545 Cartwright, and Mrs Sargent, all of Beaumont. Besides his eight children, he is survivied by 22 grandchildren and three great grandchildren, of Beaumont, Texas, and Louisiana.
