She was a retired waitress and had been a resident of Jena since 1994. Prior to that, she had been a resident of South Louisiana for 35 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 14, in the chapel of Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Home in Lufkin, Texas, with Keith Jones officiating. Interment followed in the Gann Cemetery of Lufkin under direction of Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Home. Survivors include three sons, Johnny Pennington of Portsmouth, VA., Raymond Pennington of Benton, Ark., and Lynne Pennington of Belle Chase; three daughters, Linda Taylor of Jena, Barbara Pennington-Wostal of Longview, Tx., and Kathy Pennington of Jasper, Tx.; two sisters, Winnie Boone of Houston, Tx., and Mary Lee of Lufkin; one brother, George Freeman of Fuller Springs, Tx.; 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Grandsons and nephews served as pallbearers.
