"Bill" Perkins, 69, of Columbia, died Wednesday, December 15, 1999, at his residence. He was a retired civil deputy sheriff with the Caldwell Parish Sheriff's Department. He served in the U. S. Navy and attended Kemper Military School and Louisiana State University. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Columbia. He was born in Shreveport on February 20, 1930, to the union of William Henry and Wortley Maude Moseley Perkins. Services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, December 17, at the First United Methodist Church in Columbia with the Revs. John R. Johns and Dave Shehee officiating. Interment followed in the Columbia Hill Cemetery in Columbia under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Perkins of Columbia; one son, William J. Perkins, Jr., of Jena; three daughters, Belinda Perkins of Monroe, Toya P. Simms of New Iberia, and Kendra L. Perkins of Covington; one sister, Martha P. Hunter of Shreveport; three brothers, John R. Johns of Jena, Dick Johns of New York and David Zeagler of Alabaster, Al.; and three grandchildren. Pallbearers were Steve May, John McCants, Randy Jackson, David Zeagler, Darryl R. Phillips III, and William Gabriel Perkins Wilkins.
