Pauley Killed in Plane Crash in Hawaii, June 8 Lieut. James L. Pauley, 22, pilot of a medium bomber, was killed in a plane crash near Hickam Field, Hawaii, on June 8, according to a war department message received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Pauley of Jena. Lieutenant Pauley graduated from Henderson High School, Henderson, Texas, where his family lived for many years. He entered the air corps March 9, 1943. The pilot received his commission and wings at La Junta Army Air Base, La Junta, Colo., on Jan. 7, 1944. He was stationed at Columbia, S. C. until he left for overseas duty. Lieutenant Pauley is believed by his family to have been aboard an army transport plane bound for the South Pacific when the accident occurred, although no official information of the type plane involved has been released. Besides his parents, Lt. Pauley is survived by one sister, Mary Ella Pauley of Jena.
