Parker, 85, Dies at His Home; Rites Held at Belah Sidney Wilfred Parker, 85, lifelong resident of Jena, Nebo route, who died at his home Saturday morning shortly before 10 o'clock, was buried Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, following services held at the Belah Methodist Church. The Rev. Champ Breeden, pastor of the Belah Methodist Church, conducted the final rites, with interment following in the Belah Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. Mr. Parker, with wide family connections in LaSalle Parish, is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maranda Hester Parker of Jena, Nebo route; six daughters, Mrs. Zena Pearce of Shreveport, Mrs. Callie Gorgas of Shreveport, Mrs. Clara Thomas of Shreveport, Mrs. Grace Gaudin of Shreveport, Miss Mattie Parker of Jena and Mrs. Marie Brown of Jena; five sons, Rawlings of Trout (route), Fred of Shreveport, Hardy of Houston, Texas, Dan of Shreveport, and Mack of Jena; four brothers, John of Jena, Elsmer of Oakland, Calif.; James of Dallas, Texas, and Alton of Norphlet, Ark.; five sisters, Mrs. Laura Smith of Harrisonburg, Mrs. James McBride of Gibsland, Mrs. Alief Jones of Trout, Mrs. Arlie Beavers of Trout, and Mrs. Dave Stringer (this paper's Belah correspondent) of Trout; his stepmother, Mrs. Pinkie Parker of Gibsland; 32 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Graveside rites also were conducted by the Rev. Breeden and serving as pallbearers were Ernest Fearrand, Floyd Wilcoxen, Harold Parker, W. J. Thomas, J. W. Nix and Charles Parker.
