Mr. Poe, who was a World War veteran, had been in bad health for sometime, but friends and relatives had believed that a change for the better seemed to occur just before his demise. Mr. Poe was born in Boyce, Louisiana, twenty-eight years ago. At the outbreak of the World War he was a student in Georgia Tech. Shortly after enlisting in the Army, he was married to Bessie Marie Thompson, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. B. L. Thompson, of Jena, who was a teacher in the Glenmora High School. The Poe family had been residents of Glenmora for sometime, having moved there from Boyce. Funeral services were held in Glenmora Wednesday afternoon, services being conducted by the pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church, of which Mr. Poe was a staunch member. Surviving him are his wife and three children, Leslie Earl Jr., Rose Marie and Betty Lou, besides a host of other relatives. The Times as well as the many friends in Jena extends sympathy to the family.
