She was a homemaker and was born Oct. 20, 1910, at Denham Springs. She was a charter member of the Oak Grove Free Methodist church. Services were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 22, at Oak Grove Free Methodist Church of Jonesville with the Revs. Aaron Jolly and Arvie Jolly officiating. Interment followed in the Heard Cemetery of Manifest under direction of Young's Funeral Home of Jonesville. Survivors include her husband, Saville Purvis of Jonesville; one daughter, Sharon Smitherman of Natchez, Miss.; three sons, Raymond Purvis of Maryville, Wa.; Wade Purvis, Sr., and Melvin Purvis, both of Jonesville; three sisters, Ann Pearson, Thelma Heflin, and Wilma McCarver, all of Jonesville; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Wade Purvis, II, Marty Purvis, Lloyd Trisler, Van Atkins, Charles Taylor, and David Neal.
