John Nick Powe, 62, of Trout, died at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, November 3, 2001, at his home. He was employed at the Trout Post office for the past 35 years and had served as the rural carrier for the post office for many years. Rev. Powe had pastored the Summerville Baptist Church for the past six years. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, November 8, at the summerville Baptist Church with the Revs. C. D. Beard and Pete Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the Tidwell Cemetery of Nebo under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. Friends may call at the funeral home today and at Summerville Baptist Church after 9 a.m. on Thursday. Survivors include his wife Bonnie Coon Powe of Trout; one son, David Powe of Trout, one daughter, Sheila Coleman of Trout; three brothers, Jerry Powe of Holum, Larry Powe of Grayson and Melvin Powe of Bangledish; four sisters, Cecil Burman of Shreveport, Jo Ann Andrews of Jena, Ethel Lee Mele of Lake Charles and Billie Clary of Ragley. Pallbearers will be Coby Powe, Ernest Coleman, David Teague, Ricky Powe, Michael Doughty, and Jeff Sandifer. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Carraway, Kevin Biggs, Ellis McClendon, Gary Shipley, Jimmy Johnson and Dalton Merideth.
