All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Date: September 8, 1927 Headline: Mrs. Ann Patton One Hundred Years Old Died at Vidalia Mrs. Ann Patton, widow of Mr. Sam Patton, died at the home of her grandson, Goldman Whitehead, of Vidalia, La., August 30, 1927. Mrs. Patton was born in Mississippi, August 20, 1827, and was 100 years and ten days old at death. The Pattons moved to near Olla in early life, and lived at this place until after the death of Mr. Patton in 1900; since this time Mrs. Patton has lived with some of her children or grandchildren. There is a large family of descendants many of whom still live in this parish and adjoining parishes. There are now living three children, thirty grandchildren, 82 great-grandchildren, and 30 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Patton was a charter member of the Missionary Baptist Church of Pine Hill, near Olla, having affiliated with this church in 1861 and was the only remaining charter member at her death. She was buried at the family graveyard at Pine Hill, near Olla, at 10 o'clock Thursday morning, Sept. 1. A large crowd of relatives and friends were in attendance. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. H. Brooks, of Standard, La.
