A native of Elgin, Alabama, and a resident of Sulphur, Putman served with the United States Air Force where he was stationed at Chenault. He was a member of the American Legion. He retired from Cities Service as a garage supervisor and was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Sulphur. Services were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 1, at Mount Nebo Baptist Church at Nebo. Interment followed in the Nebo Cemetery under direction of Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home of Sulphur. Survivors include his wife, Joann Girlinghouse Putman of Sulphur; one daughter, Renee McDaniel of Biloxi, Miss.; two sisters, Joan Belew of Elgin, Ala., and Margaret Herston of Killen, Ala.; one brother, Barry Putman of Center Hill, Ala; and two granddaughters.
