B. Randall on the main street of Olla Sunday night, is being held in the parish jail here. He has not made a statement regarding the affair. Olla, July 31 -- E. B. Randall, 50, owner of a local cafe, was shot to death early tonight, officers said, by M. H. May, 35, operator of another cafe. The shooting was said to have climaxed a year-old quarrel resulting from domestic tangles. The shooting occurred on Olla's main street a short distance from May's cafe, about 8 o'clock. Town Marshall H. H. Duke said that testimony of four eye witnesses shoed that Randall was walking down the street in the direction of May's cafe. May seized a 20 gauge automatic shotgun and headed toward the other restaurant man. While about 20 feet away, May was said to have shot Randall one time. The victim staggered, witnesses declared, and then ran blindly away from May. As the wounded man ran, May was said to have shot Randall five more times. Marshall Duke said that when the victim fell his body was badly mutilated, all of the shots having taken effect. Three of the shells in the gun were said to have contained buckshot, while the other three contained squirrel shot. The Town Marshall was on the scene shortly after the shooting began, and May surrendered to him without making a statement. He was later jailed at Jena. District Attorney Harry Fuller was conducting an investigation late tonight. Randall is survived by his divorced wife, Mr. Duke said, and two daughters and one son. May has a wife and one daughter.
