All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Date: July 2, 1936, Thursday Headline: Jena Man's Brother Killed in Auto Wreck on Last Saturday Oliver Robbins, 26, of Elwood, La., was instantly killed when his truck left the road 2 1-2 miles west of Glenmora at about 10:30 Saturday night. Robbins was traveling at an excessive rate of speed when his truck struck loose gravel on state highway 113. Dr. B. F. Bremer held inquest at midnight, with a coroner's jury composed of Scott Robinson, Spencer Phillips, John Andries, Leigh Pringle, and Herbert Mathews; the verdict was that the death was purely accidental. The deceased is survived by his mother, Mrs. Martha Robbins, three sisters, Mrs. Claude Keene of Forest hill, Mrs. Eddie Brosette of Elmer, and Mrs. Dezra McClelland of San Augustine, Texas; five brothers, Messrs. Wiley Robbins of Glenmora, Otho Robbins of Jena, Ollie, Claude and Andy Robbins of Forest Hill. The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Butter's Cemetery.
