R. Richey, 61 Last rites were held at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14 for Herbert R. Richey, 61, Cheek, Tex., merchant and rice farmer and native of Jena, who passed away Thursday morning, Sept 13. Mr. Richey, who was born in Jena, had lived at Cheek for 25 years. Besides his farming activities, he conducted a mercantile store in Cheek. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and of the Converse Louisiana Masonic Lodge. Survivors are his wife; two sons, W. A. and H. B. Richey, both of Cheek; a daughter, Mrs. J. A. Hodges of Dallas; six brothers, Jim and George Richey of Egan, La., and Green, R. A., Leon and Willie, all of Houston; three sisters, Mrs. M. C. Balshaw, Mrs. Lillie M. Jones and Mrs. Lizzie Trahan, all of Houston; his father, William Richey of Crowley, La.; and five grandchildren.
