Funeral rites for the Rev. William Franklin Roberts, 65, were held at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Nolley Memorial Methodist Church with the Reverends J. H. Sewell, R. R. Brewton of Ruston, and Jolly Harper of Alexandria, officiating. Interment took place at the Nolley Memorial Methodist Cemetery. The Rev. Mr. Roberts was born in Bewelcome, Miss. At 1?, he moved to Jena with his family where he finished preparatory school. He received his college education at Millsaps College, Jackson, Miss., and Centenary College, Shreveport. Ordained a Methodist minister at a district conference in Bunkie, La., in May 1903, he served pastorates throughout Louisiana. He was married in 1908 to Miss Blanche Bradford. Beginning his career as a minister at Sanders Chapel, Nebo community, he retired from active service after 37 years. At that time, he was pastor of the Nolley Memorial Methodist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Order. He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Bob G. Miller of Farmerville, La.; Mrs. F. O. Lang of Mer Rouge, La.; Mrs. Earl Deacon of Grapevine, Texas; Mrs. D. E. Way of New York City; three sons, Marion L., Edgar P., and W. F.; one sister, Mrs. W. P. Fort, of Shreveport, and eight grandchildren. Funeral arrangement were under the direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home.
