Russell, 22 years old, rig builder for the Texas Oil Company, at Houma, La., and son of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Russell, resident and well known family of Jena, was a severe shock to the family and friends. His death came as he fell some 50 feet from the derrick on which he was working near Houma, at four o'clock on Friday, November 17. He died about two hours later, without gaining consciousness. His body was brought to Jena, overland on Saturday, November 18, for his burial at the Pine Grove graveyard. Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church of Midway, at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Jess Albritton, Pastor of the Church. Besides his widow Mrs. Rose Ella Russell and son Carrol Lee, he is survived by the following: Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Russell, father and mother; sisters, Mrs. E. D. Moore, of Longview, Texas, Allie Me Russell, of McKinney, Texas, Velma and Lillie Russell and two brothers, Fred and Arby, of Jena. He was the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Coleman, of Midway. He leaves also many other relatives and friends in and around Jena to mourn his death.
