Headline:  B. F. Russell is Buried in Jena on Last Friday
Sub-Headline: Had been Resident Here for the Past Quarter of Century

Funeral services were held at the Nolley Memorial Cemetery on Friday morning 
for B. F. Russell, aged 75 years, whose untimely death occurred on Thursday.  
Interment followed in the cemetery with Kinner & Stevens, local funeral 
directors, having charge of the arrangements.  Rev. L. D. Posey, pastor of 
the Jena Baptist Church, officiated.

Mr. Russell had been a resident of Jena for 27 years, having moved to this 
section from Tullos.  He was born in Jackson Parish, but moved to Tullos 
early in life where he was married to Miss Martha Waggoner Russell, who with 
four children, survive him.  The children are:  Alva B. Russell of Jena, 
Surville Russell of Monroe, Mrs. W. H. Turrentine of Pollock, and Mrs. R. F. 
Holt of Alexandria.  He had been in failing health about two months.

The deceased was a member of one of the oldest and most highly respected 
families in this pat of the state.  He had been a devout member of the 
Baptist Church for 57 years and his death will be mourned by the many friends 
he had made by his genial personality and his desire to be of service to his 
fellow man.  The funeral was one of the largest ever held here, attesting to 
the high esteem in which Mr. Russell was held by his friends and neighbors.
