Charles J. Riser, former pastor of the Jena Baptist Church, interment following in the Nolley Memorial Cemetery in Jena Sunday afternoon under the direction of the Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. Rev. Jones, pastor of the Clarks Baptist Church, officiated. Rev. Riser, whose death occurred Saturday night at 9:05 o'clock from high blood pressure, was employed by the Louisiana Central Lumber Company as a carpenter, having retired from the ministry after leaving Jena about six years ago. He was born in Tullos on November 9, 1878, and had spent the major portion of his life in Central and North Louisiana. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Essie Mae Riser, of Clarks; two sons, Verna of Jena, and Charles, Jr., of Clarks and one daughter, Miss Ethel Riser of Clarks. He also leaves two brothers, Isaac of Mansfield and Arthur of Winnsboro and one sister, Mrs. Mattie Spearman of Winnsboro.
