Sub-Headline: Daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Richardson Succumbs at Alexandria The tragic death of little Miss Irma Richardson, 9 year old daughter of Dr. and Mrs. O. J. Richardson, of Manifest, which occurred in an Alexandria Hospital Sunday afternoon, was a shock to many friends in both LaSalle and Catahoula Parishes where her family is well known. The child died as the result of an accident occurring in Jonesville where she had gone to the fair. She was planning to spend Saturday night with an aunt in Jonesville and was struck by a car driven by a Negro Saturday afternoon. Witnesses say the accident was unavoidable. The little girl is said to have emerged from under the car unassisted after being hit. She was taken to the home of her aunt and Dr. and Mrs. Richardson went from their Manifest home to Jonesville as soon as they were advised of the accident. Examination did not reveal any indication of serious injury and the child was not believed in any danger. She accompanied her parents home and complained but little of pain. She retired as usual Saturday night and Sunday morning her parents were unable to arouse her. She was then rushed to Alexandria for medical treatment, but she never regained consciousness, dying Sunday afternoon about 4:309 o'clock, which was just about 24 hours after the accident happened. Funeral services were held from the home at Manifest Monday afternoon, Rev. E. J. Phares, pastor of the Good Pine Baptist Church, conducting the funeral services. Interment was in Heard Cemetery at Manifest. Dr. Richardson is a brother to Dr. F. L. Richardson of Jena.
