Smith on Wednesday A.M. James Walter Smith, aged 28 years, 10 months and 16 days, died Tuesday afternoon, December 20, at one o'clock after an illness of eight weeks with pneumonia, at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Smith. Mr. Smith was born in Jena on February 4, 1904, and lived here during his entire lifetime. In April 1932 he was married to Miss Myrtle Smith. He was a member of the Baptist church, having joined in early life. Funeral services were held in Jena on Wednesday, December 21, with Rev. L.D. Posey, pastor of the Baptist church, and Rev. A.S.J. Neill, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Interment was made in the Pine Grove cemetary near Rhinehart. The deceased leaves a host of friends and relatives to mourn his passing, including his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Smith, one sister, Miss Marie Smith, two brothers, Allen and Drewett Smith and two children by his first marriage, Myrtle, Marie and Willie Marie. Kinner and Stevens, local undertakers, had charge of the funeral arrangements.
