Slagle is Death Victim on Last Sunday Sub-Headline: Clarks Lumberman Was Buried at Monroe on Tuesday After a brief illness, Clarence Edward Slagle, 63 , North Louisiana civic and industrial leader, died Sunday at a Monroe hospital. Funeral services were held at his home Tuesday morning and interment was made in Riverview Burial Park in Monroe. Born in Chillicothe, Ohio, Mr Slagle moved to Louisiana in 1902. From that year until 1927, when he established his residence in Monroe, he lived at Clarks. He was president and general manager of the Louisiana Central Lumber Company at Clarks and Standard. During his life, which was devoted primicpally to the lumber industry, Mr Slagle was prominent in various other enterprises. For a number of years, he was a member of the board of directors of the Ouachita National Bank of Monroe and of the United Carbon Company. He was chairman of the bank board for several years. Mr Slagle was prominent in the civic, social, and fraternal life of Monroe, and was a member of various civic and social clubs and fraternal lodges. He also took an active interest in YMCA affairs. Surviving Mr Slagle are his widow, a son, Elmer C. Slagle, a daughter and two brothers.
