Long Hospital in Pineville. Mr. Sullivan was better known to many LaSalle residents as "Uncle Rob" Sullivan. The elder citizen was burned badly in a fire at his home near here several days before. The house located near the Lonnie Allien residence on the Jena-Alexandria highway, was destroyed. According to Mr. Allien, he was awakened by loud noises on the night of Sunday, Feb. 12, and he heard Uncle Rob calling him. The neighbor saw the fire from his window and ran out, finding Uncle Rob badly burned. Allien said the doctor at Jena Hospital gave the old man a short and sent him to the Pineville Hospital. Services were held at Belah Methodist Church Saturday with the Revs. R. W. Coody, S. B. Spinks, and M. A. Williams officiating. Burial was in Belah Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Jena. Graveside services were conducted by the ministers. Pallbearers were Finley Rosier, Ike Bradford, Dale Mitchell, Max Mitchell, Virden Brewer, and Forest Tingle. Uncle Rob, having no survivors, no family of any kind living, thought that he had kept a burial policy up to date, Mr. Allien informed The Times. Allien said many friends and neighbors contributed to such when they found none existed. In behalf of the Lonnie Allien and Hubert Mitchell families and Mrs. Alice V. Allien, appreciation was expressed to those neighbors and friends who contributed to the fund. Mr. Allien wished to thank everyone who helped in any way.
