Rev. M. C. Davidson officiated at the services, with members of Michael Dempsey Lodge No. 327, Free and Accepted Masons, having charge of the services at the grave. Active pallbearers were H. M. Davis, J. D. Wishum, J. D. Russell, Jr., R. W. Stephenson, C. I. Humphries, and Shelton Posey, members of the lodge. Mr. Shapiro has been a resident of this section for about 40 years, having come here from the North. He was at one time in business in Jena, later engaging in extensive logging contract work and was well known for his benevolent attitude among his fellow men. He had been in ill health for sometime, but on last Saturday, he expressed himself as feeling much worse and his condition failed to rally to medical skill and loving kindness of his family and neighbors, the end coming peacefully Monday afternoon. The deceased is survived by his wife and an adopted daughter.
