M. Funeral services were held at Pine Grove Cemetery on last Friday afternoon for Mrs. Nancy Sloan, aged 88 years, 5 months and 29 days. Mrs. Sloan died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. R. Newbury, in Midway, on Thursday after a lingering illness. Mrs. Sloan had been a resident of this section for many years, making her home with her daughter. She was a devout Christian and had many friends throughout this parish. She was the widow of Tom Sloan, who preceded her to the grave many years ago. Surviving the deceased are two daughters, Mrs. C. R. Newburg, Midway, and Mrs. P. H. Hall, of Fort Worth, Texas. Rev. Jessie Allbritton officiated at the grave and the funeral arrangements were in charge of the Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home. (NOTE: Mrs. Sloan's daughter's name was spelled "Newbury" and "Newburg" as typed above.)
