All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Date: January 23, 1941 Headline: Harrisonburg Woman Succumbs to Burns, Sunday, Jan. 19 Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Little Swayze, 27 years old, who was fatally injured at her home Sunday, January 19, when she caught fire and was immediately rushed to the Ferriday Hospital where she died later, were held January 20, at Harrisonburg Baptist Church with Rev. Burton Miley of Harrisonburg, Rev. Finley Tinnin of Jena, Rev. Shirley Briggs of Shreveport, and Rev. John Walters of Shreveport and Rev. Sensinstaffer of Ferriday officiating. Mrs. Swayze was a member of the Baptist Church of Harrisonburg. She was, before her marriage to Boatner Swayze on July 12, 1936, Miss Marie Little. She was born at Rhinehart and came to Harrisonburg from Manifest where her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Little, reside. Those surviving her death are: her husband, Mr. Boatner Swayze and her two year old daughter, Ruby Nell, of Harrisonburg; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Little; one sister, Lois Little; and four brothers, Jesse Little, Louis Little, Milton Little and Cecil Little, all of Manifest. Interment took place at the Oak Grove Cemetery at Rhinehart with Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena in charge. Pallbearers were Jack Adams, J. O. Shelvick, Ed Trichel, Herman LaPrarie, G. O. McGuffie and W. C. Brown.
