Swayze, 55, of Nebo, who was found dead under his house on Jan. 5, were held on Friday, Jan. 6, at 2 p.m. at the Nebo Baptist Church. Mr. Swayze had gone under his house to wrap the exposed water pipes there when his death occurred. LaSalle Parish coroner, Dr. D. L. Trax, attributed his death to a heart condition. The Rev. Thompson Doughty conducted the funeral services, assisted by the Revs. George Foster, T. J. Ratcliff, and J. H. Sewell. Interment was at the Heard Cemetery in Manifest. Mr. Swayze was born in Jonesville, on April 24, 1895, but had been a resident of Nebo community for the past 30 years. He was a retired school teacher. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Annie Womack Swayze; three daughters, Mrs. Allen Robertson, Sulphur, Mrs. Floyd Reeves, Reeves, La., and Mrs. J. B. Moffett, Jr., Nebo; one brother, T. M. Swayze, Pineville; two half-brothers, the Rev. John T. Walters, Ruston, and E. E. Walters, Marshall, Tex., and four grandsons. Members of Mr. Swayze's farm-training class for veterans of World War II served as pallbearers. Mr. Swayze was a veteran of World War I. Funeral arrangements were handled by Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Jena.
